The Warner Springs Ranch has been home to grape growers and wine makers since the mid-1800's and has many of the grape growing appellation characteristics of the Napa and Sonoma regions of California.
Wine was originally made for and by the locals in the Warner Springs Valley for trade and barter; and along with local produce and live stock prepared to feed and comfort weary travelers along the Pacific Crest trail.
The conditions for growing grapes for fine wine making are as excellent today at Warner Springs Ranch as they were in 1844. Vineyards are being reintroduced in many of the same locations as in the past. Sandy, loamy soil with neutral PH, irrigated by pure ranch spring well water makes for a stable and bright addition to the area's wine industry.
Vines are planted in gently sloping west facing terrain with free-to-flow drainage. The long sunny days and cool nights are ideal for growing vines and fruit for traditional premium wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
It is in our plan for Warner Springs Ranch Resort to plant approximately 40 acres of vineyards. The vineyard's locations along the Highway 79 corridor on the north and south side of the resort's golf course.
We envision the wine label for Warner Valley Winery to reflect a rendition of the photo of those actual vineyards at Warner Springs Ranch taken in the 1920's.
